managing your services
If you've worked with some of the painfully complex and unfriendly
control panels that are common in the web hosting business, you'll
know how hard managing your account can be (and if you've never
used
a control panel, signing up with PrimePixel Web Services will
save
you from a rude shock).
Our goal in offering services to the public was to make things as
easy as possible, from the comprehensive start-up instructions to
the support services to the user-friendly mail server configuration
and the fantastic WebMail.
The custom Control Panel we offer is no different - it's as clean,
simple and friendly as is possible to make a piece of software that
will handle all the complex tasks of server configuration.
control panel choice
You actually get a choice of control panel interfaces, including
some specifically chosen and customised by PrimePixel staff, and
others purchased by us specifically to ensure you have the best user
interface available.
(We already pay a hefty price for the control panel software,
because otherwise you'd have to become a Unix guru to configure your
account from an arcane command line, but here we're talking about
the "theme" or "skin" on top of that software which defines the user
interface and dictates ease of use).
The "Aqua" theme looks just like a Macintosh (non MacFreaks
shouldn't be concerned, it does look good :-) and tries to provide a
Mac-style clean and intuitive interface.
It does such a good job that even our staff Windows and Unix fans
have taken to using it.
Not only does it put a nice interface onto what is typically
considered "nasty" software, it even enhances its functionality.
For example, if you want to create a new email account using a
traditional control panel, you have to go from the Accounts screen
to the Mailbox screen, configure it, click 'save', then click 'back' on
the results screen, to get back to the Accounts screen.
Now, let's say you're setting up for the first time, and it's 10
email
accounts you're configuring - that's 40 screens to click your
way through
to get the job done. In Aqua you can enter all 10
accounts into the one screen at one time, click 'Add', and you're
finished!
